The President of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON), Prof. Okechukwu Ikpeze, led the Nigerian contingent to the African Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AFOG) General Assembly held in Ethiopia.

The General Assembly brought together leaders and delegates from across Africa to deliberate on key issues affecting women’s health, maternal and reproductive care, capacity building, and regional collaboration among professional bodies. Prof. Ikpeze actively participated in high-level discussions and strategic sessions aimed at strengthening obstetrics and gynaecology practice across the continent.

The presence of the SOGON President at the Assembly reinforced Nigeria’s commitment to advancing women’s health in Africa and deepening collaboration with sister societies. The Nigerian contingent’s participation also provided opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and alignment with AFOG’s vision and ongoing initiatives.

Overall, the engagement was successful and further positioned SOGON as a strong and active stakeholder within the African obstetrics and gynaecology community.
